University of Kelaniya stickers emerged as the runner up, by losing to University of Peradeniya on penalty strokes, in a keenly contested final of the Men’s XIV Sri-Lanka University Games ( SLUG ), Hockey championship 2023, after the game ended in a thrilling draw, played at the University of Peradeniya ground, Peradeniya, recently.

University of Kelaniya qualifying to the quarter final from their group, beat University of Ruhuna by 2 goals to 1 and in the semi final, beat University of Moratuwa by 1 goal to nil. In the final, lost to University of Peradeniya on penalty strokes. University of Kelaniya has come to the final of the Sri-Lanka University Games ( SLUG ) Men’s XIV Hockey Championship 2023 after 15 years.

The University of Kelaniya stickers was coached by the famous Hockey star Gihan Peiris, who has a wealth of experience, guided them , which was a remarkable achievement. The team was led by W.S..N. Thamel and E.W.D. Seneviratne as his deputy.
