Kobbie Mainoo has been told he could be Manchester United’s very own Jude Bellingham by former Red Devils striker Louis Saha.
Mainoo has enjoyed a meteoric rise to the first-team this term, earning a senior England call-up last month despite only making his Premier League debut as recently as November. Nowadays, it is incomprehensible that manager Erik ten Hag would name a starting line-up without the 18-year-old at the heart of the midfield.
Last time out for United, Mainoo showed that no occasion is too big for him when he curled home a stunning strike midway through the second-half against fierce rivals Liverpool. His side failed to hold on, with Mohamed Salah levelling things up to make it 2-2, but it was a magic moment for Mainoo nonetheless.
The teenager has undeniably been the shining light in an otherwise underwhelming season for the Premier League giants. With that being said, there is still a chance of silverware, with Ten Hag’s side gearing up for an FA Cup semi-final clash against Coventry next Sunday.
It would be a fitting end to his debut season in the United first-team if Mainoo was able to hold the FA Cup aloft. It would also go some way to stacking his claim for a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024 in the summer.
Saha is the latest big name to wax lyrical about Mainoo’s potential, with the Frenchman telling Paddy Power : ” Kobbie Mainoo can be Manchester United’s Jude Bellingham!
“He’s got the skills, the composure. He’s one of those players who has grown quicker than normal and he’s showing real maturity at 18, especially considering he’s playing in an unstable squad.”

Kobbie Mainoo has impressed for Manchester United this season
Saha continued, heaping praise on the teenagers ability to turn nothing into something, much like his goal against Liverpool last weekend. ” Manchester United ’s form is all over the place and we saw it against Chelsea and against Liverpool,” he added.
“Having a player like Mainoo who can surprise the opposition with his calmness and out of nowhere, he’s able to produce some magic, so he has no ceiling.”
Mainoo’s stock is only expected to rise ahead of what could be a transformative summer for the teenager. Expect to see him line-up alongside Bellingham in a Three Lions shirt as England aim to go one better than their last European Championship effort.
