‘Many Mughal kings tried to…’: Jharkhand Governor’s jab at Udhyanidhi Stalin
DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin faced sharp criticism from Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan months after his controversial Sanatana Dharma remark.
Speaking in Tamil Nadu’s Salem where he visited Periya Mariyamman temple, Radhakrishnan stated that numerous attempts had been made to destroy Sanatana Dharma but no one succeeded.
“Many Mughal kings attempted to destroy Sanatana and killed Hindus. I only find it funny to think that the Sanatana which survived such attempts will be eradicated by him (Udhayanidhi),” he said.
He also took a dig at Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, emphasising that winning an election and becoming Chief Minister doesn’t grant the authority to say or do anything.
“Just because a Chief Minister won in an election, the Constitution does not recognise him to say or do anything,” asserted Radhakrishnan.
The Jharkhand Governor highlighted the duty of the governor to safeguard the constitution and withhold bills that are against it. In reference to the Supreme Court’s ruling on the role of the Governor, Radhakrishnan said, “It is the duty of the Governor to withhold any bill that is in contradiction with the Constitution.”
