- Small updates to Ducati motorcycles have led to class-leading products, boosting sales and profit for the company.
- The new Ducati Panigale V4 will focus on mechanical refinements, including a new swingarm and chassis upgrades.
- Possibility of more power to compete with other superbikes is also there.
Small updates go a long way in the world of motorcycles. These not only make the motorcycles more relevant to the times but eventually result in a class-leading product. This is an approach Ducati has nailed in recent times, particularly for its V4 lineup. The Multistrada, Streetfighter, and Panigale have all received small but significant updates over the years, which eventually landed the company its highest-ever sales and profit last year.
Building in the same direction, it looks like this year won’t be any different. That’s because the European rumor mill suggests we’re about to get a new Ducati Panigale V4 very soon. It originates from world-renowned Italian motorsport media house GPOne.

The New Ducati Panigale V4 Will Focus On Mechanical Refinements
Over the years, the Panigale V4 has focused on small refinements in the technology and ergonomics vertical. We’ve seen everything from a reshaped tank to an altered power delivery and ECU tune. But for its upcoming update, it will focus on mechanical refinements.
The biggest change is said to be a new swingarm. For the first time since its inception, the Panigale will adopt a double-sided swingarm instead of a single-sided unit. The benefit would be lower weight than the double-sided setup, along with increased stiffness for the rear axle. The latter would help elongate tire life as well. Yes, we know a double-sided swingarm sounds like a downgrade, but don’t forget, even the company’s MotoGP bike uses a similar setup.
The aluminum chassis will also go under the knife. It will employ learnings from the Ducati Desmosedici MotoGP prototype in order to offer unmatched riding dynamics on the road. It goes without saying this would pave the way for a different suspension tune. The Showa forks and Sachs monoshock (or Ohlins on the V4 S) would remain unchanged, though.
Engine Updates Are Also On The Horizon
Other than this, the Panigale will continue to employ its Stradale powerhouse. It’s a 90-degree V4 engine that sits very close to the top with its 215.5 horsepower (210 in America) and 91 pound-feet (90 in America) output. So even if Ducati leaves it as is, we won’t be complaining much. That said, Ducati being Ducati will certainly make some updates to its powerhouse. More power to take on the 217-HP Honda CBR1000RR-R and Aprilia RSV4 1100 shouldn’t be too hard to achieve, right?

When will you see the new Panigale, you ask? There are two possibilities. First, Ducati could show its production-ready model at the upcoming World Ducati Week in Misano, Italy in July 2024. Second, the company could make us wait and showcase it as part of its World Premier series, followed by a public debut at the 2024 EICMA. All these are just rumors, though, so take them with a pinch of salt.
