Costigan’s Pub on Washington Street in Cork city has won the award for Best Digital Innovator at a prestigious national awards event held at The Mansion House, Dublin
The Irish Pub Awards, jointly presented by Vintners Federation of Ireland and The Licenced Vintners Association, had over 900 entries from pubs all over Ireland.
Serving the people of Cork since 1849, Costigan’s Traditional Irish pub is one of Cork’s oldest and finest pubs. The building began as a fishmongers, then became a coach house and years later became a sweet shop but it has now blossomed into the successful pub that it is today.
“Winning the award for Best Digital Innovator really is such a huge achievement for us. Costigan’s has long been a pub full of character and stories, from the team behind the bar and our punters, through to the furniture and decor on the walls but you don’t realise that until you step through our doors,” Marketing Consultant Sarah Bennett said.
“We wanted to find a way to show our true personality and charm through the use of social media and ultimately reach a whole new customer base,” Sarah added.
“Our pubs are rightly celebrated around the world, so it’s important we have a prestigious awards ceremony that captures the unique qualities of Irish bars. The level of innovation and excellence on display in our winning pubs should act as an inspiration to publicans thinking about entering next year’s Irish Pub Awards,” VFI President John Clendennen said.
