Ex-F1 Boss Bernie Ecclestone Advises Christian Horner to Leave Red Bull Racing

Christian Horner, a renowned figure in the world of Formula 1 and Commander of the British Empire (CBE), has steered Red Bull Racing to thirteen world titles, including seven World Drivers’ Championships and six World Constructors’ Championships, since 2005. With Red Bull Racing at the pinnacle of success over the past three seasons, capturing five championship titles, anticipation is high for the launch of their 2024 car on February 15. However, the spotlight has unexpectedly shifted from the team’s triumphs to a brewing controversy involving Horner himself. On Monday, February 5, the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf reported that a disgruntled employee filed a complaint against Christian Horner for his inappropriate behaviour. To know the whole matter, Red Bull Racing parent company launched an independent investigation, due to which Horner had to undergo a hearing on Friday, February 9.

It has been reported by F1 Insider that the hearing went on for more than eight hours, and former F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone was involved. In the meeting, Ecclestone advised his old friend Horner to resign in a bid to avoid further damage to his reputation.

Earlier, when the Red Bull chief was asked about the allegations reported in De Telegraaf, he completely denied the claims and called them “nuts.” However, allegedly, a “dossier of incriminating material” towards a female employee is present at the Red Bull headquarters, according to The Telegraph.

As the Red Bull team prepares for the upcoming season and the release of their new car, they do so under the shadow of uncertainty. The resolution of this controversy will be a defining moment for the team and could influence the discourse on leadership within the world of Formula 1 for years to come.
