Sprite Is Dropping an All-New, Super ‘Chill’ Flavor for the Summer

It’s a whole new way to keep cool this summer.

Sprite is bringing fans something totally new and absolutely “cold” just in time for summer.

On Monday, Sprite’s parent company Coca-Cola announced the brand’s latest drink, Sprite Chill, promising it delivers a “refreshing twist” to its classic drink thanks to the addition of cherry-lime flavoring. But that’s not all. The new drink, the company stated, also comes with a cooling sensation thanks to its “proprietary blend of cooling agents” that deliver an “elevated sensory experience.”

“When people think about Sprite, they think about cut-through refreshment,” Kate Schaufelberger, the brand director of Sprite, shared in a statement. “With Sprite Chill, we’re doubling down on these signature intrinsics while continuing our legacy of strategic flavor innovation and quenching fans’ thirst for variety and the exclusive badge value associated with trying and sharing limited-time-only beverages and experiences.”

Both Sprite Chill and Sprite Chill Zero Sugar will be available across the U.S. now through July, but only while supplies last.

According to the company, its research and development team went through several rounds of trial and error with the new drink before landing on its ideal ratio of “cherry-lime flavor and cooling intensity,” delivering what it believes to be the perfect sip that comes with a cooling sensation that builds upon itself as you drink. Sprite added, it borrowed several of the cooling sensation techniques from baking and confectionery work without having to add in mint flavor.

“Consumers today are looking for multisensorial beverage experiences, so we saw a unique opportunity to elevate the crisp, refreshing taste Sprite fans expect with a first-of-its-kind cooling sensation,” Felicity Boucetla, senior director of product development for sparkling flavors at Coca-Cola, added.

To celebrate the release, Sprite teamed up with NBA player Trae Young, aka “Ice Trae,” so they — and all their fans — could borrow his signature “Freeze and Desist” move.

But that’s not all. Sprite fanatics are invited to share their “coldest selfies” to the Snapchat Chill Cam challenge using Sprite’s custom filter. A few fans will then be selected and featured on Sprite’s social media channels and digital billboards in Atlanta, Detroit, Los Angeles, and New York City. So get your chillest game face on and be ready for your moment in the (lemon) limelight.
