Ukrainian intelligence destroyed a Russian Ka-32 helicopter in Moscow. This aircraft belonged to the Russian Ministry of Defense, according to RBC-Ukraine source within special services.

The enemy helicopter was burned down at the Russian Ostafyevo International Airport in Moscow. This Ka-32 belonged to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

According to the source, the Russians used the helicopter to meet the logistical needs and evacuation operations of their army.

Intelligence confirmed the destruction of the Ka-32 helicopter in Moscow and shared a video.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, the airfield belongs to the Russian Ministry of Defense and is operated jointly with Gazpromavia company, which is part of PJSC Gazprom.

“The destroyed aircraft unit was used by the aggressor state for the interests of the Moscow aviation center, particularly to support operations of the Russian occupying army,” the statement says.

About KA-32 helicopter

The Ka-32 (NATO reporting name: Helix-C) is a Soviet and Russian medium transport helicopter with a coaxial rotor system, two turboshaft engines, and non-retractable landing gear.

It’s a civilian development based on the search and rescue helicopter Ka-27PS, designed by the Kamov Design Bureau. Up until 2006, around 160 Ka-32 helicopters were produced in various modifications.

Initially designed for reconnaissance of ice conditions in the extreme Arctic environment during both day and night, its purpose later expanded to include versatile all-weather applications such as search and rescue operations, transportation, crane operations for equipment installation, hauling valuable timber in areas without roads, patrol duties, and more.

The helicopter’s crew consists of 2 people, with a passenger capacity of 13. Its maximum speed is 260 km/h, and it has a practical range of up to 800 km.

Ukraine continues to destroy Russian aviation

Since the start of the full-scale war, Russia has already lost 348 planes and 325 helicopters.

One of the recent Ukrainian forces’ successful operations was the destruction of a Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bomber. Ukraine managed to hit such an aircraft for the first time. According to the head of Defense Intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, the operation lasted a week, and the main part was waiting for the aircraft to reach the needed threshold.
