Rajiva Wijetunge who was a Masters Double International celebrates his Silver Jubilee Anniversary with Sri Lanka Masters Athletics and Table Tennis this year.
Wijetunge has won (26) Twenty Six International medals for Sri Lanka in both Masters Athletics and Table Tennis since 1999.
Highlights of his Masters Table Tennis career was when he won a Bronze medal in the men’s singles and a Silver medal in the Men’s doubles at the World Masters Games in Edmonton, Canada in 2005. Rajiva was the first Sri Lankan to win an individual medal for table tennis at the World Masters Games.
Rajiva has also won two Bronze medals for the Discus Throw and Shot Putt for Sri Lanka at the Asian Masters Athletics Championships.
Rajiva holds the Royal College under-14 shot put record established in 1973 which is still unbroken even after (50) fifty years.
Wijetunge was the President of the Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka (TTASL) from 2007 to 2009 and 2015/16. President of the Mercantile Table Tennis Association (MTTA) from 2012 to 2015, Patron of the MTTA in 2019, Vice President of the Veterans Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka (VTTASL) since 2002 to up to date. He was the vice president of Masters Sri Lanka Athletics from 2006 to 2010.
Wijetunge was a member of the selection committee of the Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka (TTASL) for a period of (10) Ten years. His achievements are unique and is proud of the contribution made towards these two sports by any in that age category.
