2 suspects in daring Cebu pawnshop robbery arrested with help of CCTV

Police arrested two suspects in a daring pawnshop robbery in Cebu City with help of CCTV footage.

In her report on “24 Oras”, Marisol Abdurahman said CCTV video footage on November 25 showed the suspects onboard a motorcycle.

One of the men alighted with a bag and transferred into a red car. He is believed to have robbed another pawnshop in Cebu.

After 2 days, the same car was accosted at a checkpoint in the municipality of Sibonga in Cebu. Police said it was the getaway vehicle used by a gang that robbed the Oro Sugbo Pawnshop.|

Police arrested suspects Dann Carlo Flores and Jordan Baquiano. Baquiano also has a standing arrest warrant for murder.

Seized from the suspects were several high caliber firearms, explosives and an assortment of tools they used in the robbery.

“Immediately after the incident posible po na naghiwa-hiwalay po ibang miyembro. Of course para po hindi po sila mahuli sa iisang lugar”, said Police General Anthony Aberin, Regional Director of Police Regional Office (PRO) 7.

(After the incident the gang members immediately went their separate ways in order for them not to be caught in one location.)

Aberin said law enforcement authorities in airports and seaports in his region are on the lookout for the suspects who are still at large and might try to escape the province.

It was around 9 a.m. Saturday when armed men entered the pawnshop in Cebu City and left with a yet disclosed amount of jewelry.

 Based on the evidence, PRO 7 is investigating whether the gang members are connected with other syndicates.

“Based on their armaments at tsaka number of persons na involved, its really a big group. Hindi lang po basta-basta isang maliit na grupo kasi nakita naman po natin sa CCTV na talagang daring yung ginawa nila,” Aberin disclosed.

Police said they are not discounting an inside job angle.
