Cops to make arrangements with Abdul Wahab's lawyer to record his statement

KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman will make an arrangement with the lawyer of Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jilani to set a date for the J-Kom assistant officer to provide his statement, says Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

The Inspector-General of Police said Abdul Wahab is an important witness in the investigation into a viral video of an indecent conversation said to involve former Community Communications Department (J-Kom) director-general Datuk Dr Mohammad Agus Yusoff.

“We are aware of Abdul Wahab’s health problems. We are now arranging with his lawyer (to set a date),” he said when contacted on Monday (Nov 27).

On Monday, Abdul Wahab’s lawyer revealed that his client had slipped into a bout of depression and had to reschedule his appointment with the police on Sunday (Nov 26).

Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain previously said that only Abdul Wahab could confirm the identity and role of “Mr H” said to be behind the video.

He said police had already recorded the Mr H’s statement but could not verify his identity until Abdul Wahab came forward.

“For now, we only know who Mr H is based on Mohammad Agus’s statement,” he said.

The police recorded Mr H’s statement on Thursday (Nov 23).

Mohammad Agus lodged a police report at Kajang police headquarters over the video on Nov 17.

In a press conference on Nov 17, Mohammad Agus described the viral video as an internal conspiracy to sabotage his career and reputation and claimed that the video was doctored.
