The siblings of former Philippine National Police Chief Camilo Cascolan are upset by the alleged haste taken in cremating his remains after he died last Friday.

In Raffy Tima’s Monday 24 Oras report, the the siblings’ lawyer and nephew Attorney Stephen Cascolan said that while the former PNP chief was ill, his siblings had misgivings over why his condition had worsened to the point that he died.

“Even before, they made a petition for guardianship para maalagaan ng maaayos,” explained Atty. Cascolan. “Naka-specify doon, pag namatay, huwag i-cremate at ipa-autopsy.”

However, the opposite took place.

Ex-General Cascolan’s siblings were perplexed by how quickly the remains were cremated despite the presence at the funeral parlor of National Bureau of Investigation officials who were there to perform an autopsy.

The siblings were also questioning why a PNP doctor and not Cascolan’s attending physician had signed the death certificate used to have his body immediatly cremated.

“We will ask the PNP why they signed, the heritage park, the attending physician. Marami ang kailangan sumagot sa katanungan,” said Atty. Cascolan.

“It pains the family na matutuldukan yung buhay niya ng ganun na lang.”

Former PNP Chief Cascolan was considered one of the “Davao Boys,” and along with now Senator “Bato” de la Rosa, was one of the officials behind the then government’s “Oplan Double Barrel” anti-drugs campaign.

After serving as PNP chief, Cascolan was appointed Executive Director of the Anti-terrorism Council Project Management Center.

The new administration had then appointed him an undersecretary in the Health Department. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
