KLIA shooting: Target advised against making statements on incident

PETALING JAYA: My lawyer has advised me not to make any statements on the case, says the wife of the man wanted for the shooting incident at KL International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 on Sunday (April 14).

In a post on her Facebook page, Farah Md Isa, better known as Farah Cie, said that the suspect was being hunted down by the police.

In a post just after the shooting occurred about 11 hours ago, she stated that an individual shot her bodyguard at KLIA.

“A police report has been lodged. An official statement will be made,” she said in the post.

In her most recent post she says, “The suspect is being hunted, refer to official statements from the police that are authentic.

“I have been advised by my lawyer not to issue any statements at the moment,” she said.

It was reported earlier that a bodyguard was shot at about 1.30am in KLIA. It was believed that the target was a woman who was awaiting the arrival of an umrah group.

The bodyguard was seriously injured.

The public has been warned not to approach the suspect or to take the law into their own hands.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain told a press conference at KLIA on Sunday that police were seeking one Hafizul Harawi, 38.

Hafizul has also been identified as the husband and business partner of the intended victim.

“The police have classified the suspect as armed and dangerous. Anyone who spots him is urged to share information with the police but not to act alone,” he said.
