KEMAMAN – A teenage boy has been remanded for five days starting today after being suspected of sodomising his six-year-old cousin.
Magistrate Sharifah Amirda Shasha Amir Sharifuddin issued the remand order to allow investigations to be carried out under Section 14 (d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
District police chief Superintendent Hanyan Ramlan said the police arrested the 13-year-old teenager after receiving a report from the victim’s mother about the alleged act.
“The victim’s mother lodged a police report about the incident at the Chukai police station on Sunday afternoon.
“Based on the report, her child was sodomised by the suspect who had been living with them.
“The suspect, who is an only child, had been living with them for the past three months after the teenager’s parents got divorced,” he said when contacted by Sinar, today.
Hanyan said the victim was taken to the Kemaman Hospital for examination and further treatment.
